1000 Points Tournament: Regular Game 2, Season 1

This Battle Report is part of a series of reports from a 1000 points tournament taken place at the Bonepile Miniatures Club. 6 players are competing with unique armies. This tournament is collectively considered Season 1. The Regular Season will match each of the participating 6 armies against each other once. Then a Playoffs Season will follow with a double-elimination bracket.

Tournament General Stipulations include:

  • 1000 point armies (+5 Max, -20 Min.)
  • At least 50% Core
  • Units must be the same each game, but can vary in configuration (i.e. model count, weapons, armor, magic items, command, etc.)
  • 12 Game Turns
  • 4′ x 8′ Table
  • Bonepile Miniatures Club Mixed Ruleset
  • Battle for the Pass Scenario
  • Total Regular Season points will seed the Playoffs Bracket

Final Score: Dwarfs 1,150, Daemons 687.

Dwarfs Unit Summary

Warriors: These Dwarfs single-handedly engaged with a unit of Bloodletters advancing down the Dwarf’s left flank. They eventually ground the Daemons into nothing after 7 rounds of close combat.

Quarrelers: They made crossbow targets of Flesh Hounds (2 kills) and Bloodletters (5 kills) on the Dwarf’s right flank. They were charged by a partial unit of Flesh Hounds in the backfield. They eliminated the hounds after 2 rounds of Close Combat, but lost 2 Dwarfs.

Longbeards: Took center position in the field. They took a surprise flank charge from a unit of Flesh Hounds with 0 wounds. They also took a front charge from a Swooping unit of Chaos Furies. They lost 2 Dwarfs, but no Furies survived the encounter. Finally, they flanked and finished off a partial unit of Bloodletters that had grinded down the Hammerers. The Daemon Herald was among the casualties.

Hammerers: This unit was commanded by the Thane. They occupied the Dwarf’s center right position. They rescued the Longbeards from a flank charge from some Flesh Hounds. Next, they took a charge from a unit of Bloodletters with the Daemon Herald. They could not hold on after 4 rounds of Close Combat. The Longbeards’ attempt to return the rescue favor was a moment too late. All Hammerers perished.

Slayers: The Slayer unit was the first unit in Close Combat. But, they struggled to injure the Flesh Hounds they encountered on the Dwarf’s left flank. They perished after 3 rounds of Close Combat.

Bolt Thrower: This unit struggled to make a number of long shots. It finally managed to kill a Flesh Hound after a failed charge. The crew suffered a fate of Fear and death when the Flesh Hounds charged on their next turn. The crew ~bravely~ stood their ground in 2 rounds of Close Combat, but were devoured by the mad dogs.

Thane: Rumar led the Hammerers unit. His double-axes took down 2 Flesh Hounds clawing at the flank of the Longbeards. Later, he accepted a Challenge from the Daemon Herald when the Bloodletters charged. He was cut down by his faster opponent before getting a chance to prove himself.

Daemons Unit Summary

Flesh Hounds: The unit led by Killer took a Vanguard advance down the Daemon’s left flank. Two Hounds were dropped by the Quarrelers in the advance. They made a surprise charge into the Longbeards, but caused no wounds. The Hammerers smashed the rest of them, but not before Killer took down two of them.

Flesh Hounds: The unit led by Ripper tore down the entire left flank of the Dwarfs. First they eliminated the Slayers. Next, the Bolt Thrower fell to their rabid assault. They also charged into the Quarrelers but only killed one of those Dwarfs before the last hound vanished.

Bloodletters: The unit with Slicer was commanded by the Herald. They took the Daemons left flank. They encountered Serpent Rock, and gained the Initiative bonus, and Poisoned Attacks. They took heavy casualties from the Quarrelers’ crossbows before making it into combat with the Hammerers. They took the Hammerers down after 4 rounds of Close Combat. But the Longbeards ended their reign of terror promptly afterward. Slicer vanished after a sound defeat.

Bloodletters: The unit with Forgotten followed Ripper’s Flesh Hounds down the Daemon’s right flank. They got into Close Combat with the Dwarf Warriors. They were the last Daemons on the battlefield, enduring 7 rounds of Combat before the last one vanished. They killed 12 Dwarfs.

Chaos Furies: This unit made a direct Swoop attack into the Longbeards. After eliminating 2 Dwarfs, they lost 9 Furies to their axes. The last Fury vanished after the sound defeat.

Herald of Khorne: Claw commanded a unit of Bloodletters down the Daemon’s left flank. When they finally charged into the unit of Hammerers, he haughtily slew the Dwarf Thane in a Challenge of single combat. His unit eliminated the rest of the Hammerers before the Longbeards charged their flank. Claw and Slicer vanished before the Longbeards could cut them down.
